Introduction to Felt-making
1-Day Workshops
Have a fun, creative day making felt the traditional way.
Small-group workshops for 2-3 people can be booked during the summer months by arrangement. The workshops are held at my home studio in Littlehampton, West Sussex.
(Please note this is traditional wet-felting, NOT needle-felting).
(Please note this is traditional wet-felting, NOT needle-felting).
Workshops run from 10am-3pm with a one hour break for lunch. They include an introduction to the materials and equipment, and a demonstration of the basic felt-making process, after which you will be able to create your own felt pieces. You will be encouraged to experiment with different wools and fibres to discover how they behave when felted.
You'll get printed notes to take away and there will be a selection of books, magazines and felt samples to look at.
The cost for the workshop is £50 per person, including all materials used. Tea/coffee is provided, and you can either bring a packed lunch or eat at one of the local seafront cafes. A non-refundable £25 deposit is payable at time of booking.
For bookings and inquiries please visit my textile art website and use the contact form.
NEW! You can now purchase a DIY version of my workshop.
'Introduction to Felt-making: Workshop in a Box' is now available to buy online and at craft fairs. The box includes clear, printed instructions and all the materials and equipment you need to start making felt (just add water!). A great gift idea at just £19.50 plus postage.
Littlehampton is a small seaside town located at the mouth of the River Arun in West Sussex. As well as being a great family resort, it has the beautiful South Downs National Park nearby, historic Arundel Castle only a few miles away and the larger towns of Chichester, Worthing and Brighton all within easy reach. There are some good, reasonably-priced B&Bs in the town, so why not spend a few days here and explore the area?
